Who I am, Why I Want to Travel, and Why You Should Care.

Grab some tea, or a coffee and park it – you’re gonna want to read this one.

post

I want to start this first blog post off by saying how truly grateful I am to anyone who takes the time to read it, as you, the reader, are the reason I’m doing this. Now, before I take the time to go into a bunch of posts about all my greatest and loftiest hopes, dreams, and tips, I want to take you on a little mental adventure so that you can see why I’ve started this blog.

Who I Am

As a tiny tot, I was super creative, like, dreaming of being an author and writing actual books in kindergarten (As the plot went on they became less and less legible, but that’s beside the point. A six-year-old wrote multiple freaking books!). Yeah, so I was a total nerd, I get it. As time went on and I started to feel the stress of not only being the only kid left out of four who had a chance to not be either drunk or dead, the pressure to become something worthy got crazy intense. Eating disorder and depression intense. Anyways, in the fight to become the perfect little parent-pleasing angel-human subtype, my wandering brain just so happened to land upon one of the most respected and prestigious career pathways in America. You guessed it, medicine. After forcing myself to binge-watch real surgeries and episode after episode of Grey’s Anatomy, surgery really became my thing. I went from being a fart in the wind at my small high school to super popular guys being jealous because I, the tiny ‘fresh-meat’ who wore big hoodies, was managing to steal their (cheating) thunder in biology class.

Fast forward to now, and I bet you’re expecting me to talk about how thankful I was to FINALLY graduate high school, and how absolutely freeing it was to have my diploma handed to me as I watched all my math teachers give me the stink eye with an; ‘I’m faking this smile as I try so hard to produce a tear – and if I crap my pants it’s going to all your fault – because you’re finally leaving’ glint in their eyes. I’m gonna assume you want to hear about how I’m 26 and single, traveled half the world are or ready to take my first trip around it… I think you get my point. Or shall we just skip to the shitty current situation of how I live in a broken down apartment with six hairless cats who’s names all start with J’s in accordance to a plethora of all my favorite book characters.

The unfortunate truth is that I’m seventeen years old, am a little over halfway through my junior year in high school, and I still live at home. I do have a cat, but I don’t know of any books who’s lead characters go by the name Moose.

I have recently learned the art of prioritizing. As annoying and complicating as it sounds, it’s totally the opposite. Well, maybe a little annoying, but it definitely has taken the complication factor out of my life. I had to prioritize what my family wanted for my future, and what I wanted for my future. This brings me to my first ever tip to you guys. When it comes to important decisions, if you’re visual like I am, picture yourself in your top two scenarios. Now, if you picture yourself as a doctor constantly in a controlled environment and never any time to yourself, would you miss the idea of travel? Okay, now I want you to think about if you were able to save up the money and go everywhere you wanted to go, would you regret not scrubbing your hands every five minutes? I decided that living that scrubs life would give me a major case of IRS (Irreversible Regret Syndrome).

That’s the condensed version of who I am, and whether you find it irritating or inspiring, well, that’s up to you.

So… Why Travel?

A simple question only deserves a simple answer. I love traveling, hiking, swimming, touring, trying new cuisines, nature walks, climbing trees, bonfires in my back yard – if it’s on the other side of my four walls then I probably am already in love.

Cool Story Bro… But What’s in it for Me?

Soooooooo so SO much! I want to encourage teenagers anywhere and everywhere to get out there and explore our beautiful world while giving tips on where, how, and when to do it. I haven’t been everywhere yet, but I do travel and plan on traveling extensively within the next year and a half, so stay tuned for future blog posts on how I’m saving, planning, my top 10’s, and so much more! Of course, a community cannot exist without feedback, so I look forward to building my social platform so that I can hear from my readers and upload content for YOU!! I’m going to start out with weekly posts, but that is subject to change (in pluses!).
